Bach performed this cantata on February 7, 1723 on the occasion of his application for the cantorship at St. Thomas. Belongs to the composer’s chamber music style, developed during his time as director of the court orchestra of Anhalt-Köthen. Scored for solo ATB, SATB chorus, oboes, strings & continuo.
