CHOPIN, Frédéric, 1810-1849

Etude in C Major, op.10, no.7

Facsimile Edition of the Manuscript Held in the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City

[Etude, piano, op.10,7]

Chopin, Etude in C Major, op.10, no.7
autograph fair copy of Etude no.8 in F major

Works by Chopin—Facsimile Edition, [34] A II/10/7. Warsaw, 2007. Oblong, 35 x 25.5 cm, 2 vols, 2, 33 pp. Full-color halftone of the autograph fair copy (Pierpont Morgan call number MA 2473), basis of the French Schlesinger edition. Signs of the preparation needed for publication abound on the manuscript especially in the form of pencilled numbers that ‘cast off’ the number of bars to appear in a printed system, and the number of systems to appear on the printed page. Surviving correspondence between the French and German publishers of the Etudes informs us of the meticulous care with which Chopin prepared his first set of publications following his arrival in Paris (Kallberg). Commentary (Pol-Eng-Ger-Sp-Fr-Jp) by Jeffrey Kallberg. Bound in blue linen, with matching slipcase. $69  (view other volumes from this series)
