[Mazurka, 41,1]
Works
by Chopin—Facsimile Edition, A
IV/41/1. Warsaw, 2023. Oblong, 29 x 22
cm, 2 vols, 2, 47 pp. Full-color
halftone of the so-called Palma
Mazurka, drafted in 1937 in Marjorca,
the first of a set of four Mazurkas
belonging to op.41. The ms (BnF Ms.
113) is incomplete—comprising only
bars 1-38—but originally served as
part of the fair copy for the first
French edition by Troupenas. Chopin
wryly describes the op.41 cycle as
“pretty to me, just as the youngest
children appear beautiful to aging
parents”. Commentary
(Pol-Eng-Ger-Sp-Fr-Jp) by Jim Samson.
Bound in blue linen, with matching
slipcase. $69 (view
