Meisterwerke der Musik im Faksimile, 11. Laaber, 2010. 21 x 34 cm, xviii, 62 pp. Full-color facsimile of the 1772 autograph full score issued on the occasion of the bicentenary of the composer’s death. In the inventory of Haydn's estate the work is listed with this description: “Symphony in F-sharp minor with a humorous Finale during which all the instrumentalists apart from two violin players gradually leave the orchestra before the end”. The autograph gives no indication on how the work was to be staged. Only in the final bars of the 2nd horn and 1st oboe parts did Haydn write “nichts mehr" (nothing more). Contemporary copyist manuscripts give directions like “geht ab” (leave) or “geht ab und das Licht auslöschen” (leave and extinguish the light). Commentary in Ger-Eng. Hardbound in decorative paper. $142 (view
