(Forest of moral & spiritual settings), dedicated to Elenora Gonzoga and
published by Bartolomeo Magni, is Monteverdi's most significant
anthology of the liturgical works. Compiled at the age of 74, the work
is crowning achievment of the composer's long and illustrious tenure at
the Cathedral of San Marco, including almost every genre of church
music with instrumentation varying between a single voice to eight
