by Gottlieb
Stephanie, and consisting of an “Ouverture, 2 Arien, ein Terzett und
Vaudeville”, the work
was commissioned by Emperor Joseph II and first presented (along with
an opera by Salieri) at
Schönbrunn, the emperor’s summer residence near Vienna.. Includes
draft for the aria “Da
schlägt die Abschiedsstunde”, in the possession of the New York
Public Library. Preface by
Charles Ryskamp; introduction by Rigbie Turner. Beta-radiographs of 4
