completed December of 1942, and first
performed by Eduard Steuermann with the NB
Orchestra's Radio City Habitat in New York
City under Leopold Stokowski. A work written
in America using the 12-tone technique with
extra-musical indications (corresponding to
the 4 movements) of an autobiographical
nature: “Life was so easy”, "Suddenly hatred
broke out”, “A grave situation was created”,
and “But life goes on”. Commentary in
Ger-Eng. Beautiful bibliophile presentation,
hardbound with blue paper boards and gold
embossed title.
