This publication reproduces the manuscript of the Impromptu in G-flat major op. 51 from the Library of Congress (Selden-Goth Collection) in Washington DC. The history of this autograph is convoluted; until 1926, it was held by the Musikhistorisches Museum von Wilhelm Heyer in Cologne; its later owners are unknown.
